Dr David KlinzingChief Technology Officer, Imagene Labs
Dr David Klinzing is a molecular and computational biologist with many years of experience in research, academia and biotechnology. David has a B.S. in Genetics from the University of Wisconsin, a PhD in Biology from Tufts University in the U.S., and his post-doctoral training at Harvard Medical School.
David also worked for a management consulting company in Boston training pharmaceutical managers in business and finance. He has worked in clinical research in the Philippines prior to moving to Singapore in 2013 to join AITbiotech as laboratory director. David helped establish NovogeneAIT in Singapore, a joint venture between AITbiotech and Novogene of China; and has been involved in DNA sequencing and genomics from the early days: from Sanger sequencing and small scale next-generation sequencing to large population genomics projects like the Singapore 10,000 genomes project SG10K. In addition, David is experienced in bioinformatics, data analysis and clinical genomics and has recently completed a research fellowship at National University of Singapore’s School of Medicine.

Dr Ling Ka YiChief Technology Officer & Co-founder, Shiok Meats
Dr Ling Ka Yi is a developmental and stem cell biologist with over 10 years expertise in tracing and studying stem cells during development. Ka Yi received the prestigious A*STAR’s National Science Scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor’s and PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She worked closely with stem cell and developmental biology experts like James Thomson, Davor Solter and Barbara Knowles. Following graduation, Ka Yi did her postdoc at IMCB, A*STAR in Singapore. She is an active science communicator since her days in Madison; and frequently takes part in science outreach and speaks at food sustainability and career management events. She also did a podcast called “Science Now” and “Life after PhD” with fellow colleague/scholar. Ka Yi is passionate about marrying her experience in biotech research and her love for food to produce sustainable food products. In August 2018, she co-founded a cell-based crustaceans startup called Shiok Meats, along with Dr Sandhya Sriram. She was recognised as one of the MIT Tech Review’s “Innovators under 35 in Asia” 2020, the “Women and the Ocean: Changemakers” challenge 2020”, the Great Women Of Our Times 2020 by Women Weekly, and Gen T list 2020.

Dr Zhang YanliangFounder & Chief Scientist, Weston Robot
Dr Zhang Yanliang is the founder and chief scientist at Weston Robot, a Singapore-based deep-tech robotics company. Yanliang received his bachelor in computer engineering, and Ph.D. in robotics from Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) in 2006 and 2010, respectively. He did his robotics research at University of Toronto in Canada from 2010 to 2011 and served as the founding robotics product and industry manager at MathWorks in Boston, USA from 2011 to 2015. Dr. Zhang is a serial entrepreneur, with his first deep-tech startup acquired by a US company in 2011. He is a passionate evangelist helping researchers and students transfer their innovations from labs to startups with proven track records. He managed a few investment funds and invested several startups in the past 6 years. He serves as a visiting professor, chief scientist and startup mentor in top universities, institutions, incubators, and private funds, and is often invited to give courses at top MBA programs.

Tay Woon Teck (Session Chair)Managing Director, Business Consulting & Head of Private Client Services, RSM Risk Advisory
Tay Woon Teck is currently the Managing Director of RSM’s Business Consulting and Head of Private Client Services. He consults and assists entrepreneurs to build a corporate culture of resilience. His area of work focuses on helping entrepreneurs discover and preserve value in their business, create or co-create values through innovation and digitalisation, rehabilitate ailing companies and recover from failures.
He works with our economic agencies to promote Singapore as a hub for global businesses, assist our entrepreneurs connect with ASEAN and the world through RSM network of firms. He is a frequent speaker on ASEAN, Internationalisation and Managing Digitalisation and Transformation.
He is currently a member of the Global Connect Committee under Singapore Business Federation; and a member of the Industry and Commerce Committee under Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He is a Board Director at the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language. He is the Chairman of The Chartered Management Institute, Singapore Branch, and the First Vice President of The Society of Modern Management.
Woon Teck currently teaches corporate governance and risk management in the School of Business (Accountancy) of the Singapore University of Social Sciences. He co-authored the “Doing Business in ASEAN” guide jointly published by RSM, Rajah & Tann Asia and United Overseas Bank in 2015 and 2016, as well as the booklet on “Building a Treasury Centre for Sustainable Growth” in 2018.
